Gen.G Esports in their first ever outing as a team, have suffered a loss at the hands of a pick-up team called Just For Fun, in the North American Open Qualifiers for IEM Katowice 2020.
Gen.G Esports stepped into the tournament with Hunter “SicK” Mims standing in for the side to complete their roster. The team despite reaching the top sixteen failed to go any further, suffering a ‘16-14’ loss on Train against Just For Fun, which had Cloud9 player Yassine “Subroza” Taoufik as a part of its roster.
Subroza celebrated the team’s victory with a tweet, which was an indirect taunt on Gen.G whose lineup consists of the ex-Cloud9 core of autimatic, daps, and koosta, along with their assistant coach Elmapuddy.
When asked by a user “Why couldn’t you do that on C9?”. The player replied by saying that, “lmao team was dead before I even joined, didn't prac a single day and faced astralis navi faze. Good comparison.”
Gen.G Esports who have still not completed their roster has been speculated to be interested in BnTeT, as their fifth player. But until his signing is finalised, Gen.G has to play with their current roster, who will be seen in action once again at the second North American Open Qualifiers for IEM Katowice 2020, which is scheduled to take place from 12th-13th December.
Let’s see if the new boys in the circuit can make it to the Closed Qualifier or not.
