Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), the highly anticipated sequel for Counter-Strike Global Offensive, finally arrived on 28th September. Valve announced the launch of CS2 on Thursday which brings some major updates to the game including improved smoke grenades, redesigned maps, and improved network features.

CS2 Match Demo Has Expired: What Is It?
A lot of players who have been grinding in CS2 reported the 'CS2 match demo has expired' error message. A match demo in Counter-Strike is a system where you can download and review CS 2 matches through the Steam client. The old tool in CS:GO was a bit archaic, therefore, this system was also given an upgrade in the new game.
To do a match replay, players have to access their 'Personal Game Data' through the 'Profile' section. Here, you will find your previous CS 2 match demos under the Premier Matches tab. From there, you can download the CS 2 demo file and use the in-game console command to watch it via the demo viewer.
But this is where the error has come into play. One Redditor started a discussion about this issue on 29th September. They wrote, "CS2 Match demo has expired and is unavailable right after finishing the match." The Redditor went on to explain that they finished a match and wanted to review it. However, they were unable to download the match. The user added, "Is there some upload time for it or something? any help on how to get this recovered? (for your info NO I did not attempt to download it, it already was blocked before I even could)."
Why Is 'CS2 Match Demo Has Expired' Message Popping Up?
The reason why this error is popping up for players in CS2 is because of the latest update for the game on 28th September.
As per the release notes, Valve has disabled both CSTV and demo recording temporarily. The notes said, "Disabled CSTV and demo recording temporarily to increase server availability so more people can play."
As it said, Valve has turned off these tools to allow more server capacity and allow more players to seamlessly play CS2 without hassles. So players can expect to see the match demo tool become usable very soon when Valve figures out the server's stability and strength.
For now, all players can do is sit tight and hope for the tool to return to the game as there are no other fixes for the message.
