Can You Customise Characters in Counter-Strike 2?

Counter-Strike 2 is set to launch later this year and a lot of players are currently enjoying the limited beta test. Players who have access to the game recently discovered that there are lines of code in the game files hinting at character customization in Counter-Strike 2 and it has led to widespread speculation regarding how such a feature could be implemented. Counter-Strike 2 might get character customization

The only customization players had in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) was through skins for all of the guns and knives. But characters were not customizable and that might change in the near future according to datamined information. 

Some players discovered a line of code in Counter-Strike 2’s game files that says LOADOUT_POSITION_CLOTHING_HANDS.’ Upon discovering the code, keen-eyed fans went through game files and discovered that there are multiple cosmetic types that are referenced including: 

• Facemask

• Hands

• Eyewear

• Hats

• Lower Body Cosmetics

• Torso Cosmetics 

Games like Valorant and CS:GO have steered away from character cosmetics to maintain competitive integrity. However, in-game cosmetics are popular and adding them to the game could boost Counter-Strike 2’s revenue significantly. 

Many popular first-person shooters allow players to equip any skin of their choice during competitive events. Halo and Overwatch 2 even have team-specific skins that pro players use during their games. 

Many players are excited about character skins coming to Counter-Strike 2 due to the datamined information in the current Counter-Strike 2 limited-beta test. However, you should temper your expectations as Valve is yet to confirm if such cosmetics will be coming to the game. The game is expected to release sometime this year.
