The IEM Cologne 2022 is all set to entertain and enthrall the CS:GO audience from tomorrow onwards. The cathedral of counter-strike will be taking place from 5th to 17th July, with 24 of the best teams from around the world competing for a total prize pool of $1,000,000 USD (INR 7,89,35,700).
Split into three stages, the tournament will kick off with the Play-In Stage, move on to Group Stage, and culminate with the Playoffs. ESL has planned on hosting the first two stages of the tournament in a closed studio format at the Hyatt Regency Cologne, followed by the playoffs taking place at the historic LANXESS Arena in Cologne, Germany.

IEM Cologne 2022: Complete information about the CS:GO tournament
One of the biggest and most awaited CS:GO tournaments of the year, IEM Cologne 2022, is prepared to start from tomorrow onwards featuring some of the best teams from across the globe. Here is all the information about it that you need to know.
Teams
A total of 24 CS:GO teams will be competing in the IEM Cologne 2022,
16 teams earning a slot on the basis of their regional EPT (ESL Pro Tour) Ranking.
Seven teams qualifying for the event based on their ESL World Ranking.
A single team making it through by winning the ESL Meisterschaft Spring 2022, which is a German national CS:GO tournament.

Format
The IEM Cologne 2022 comprises of three stages, play-in stage, group stage and playoffs. Here is how all of them will be played out,
Play-In Stage
The play-in stage of the tournament will witness 16 of the 24 teams going up against each other in a double-elimination bracket.
All the opening matches will be a single-game affair, while all the remaining matches will feature a BO3 series.
The top eight teams from this stage will qualify ahead to the group stage, four from the upper bracket and four from the lower bracket.
Group Stage
Once again a total of 16 teams will be competing, eight directly invited teams and the other eight qualifying through the previous stage.
These teams will be divided into two groups of eight teams each, with both these groups following a double-elimination bracket where all matches will be following a BO3 series.
The top three teams from each bracket will move on to the playoffs. Both the winners directly qualifying to the semifinals, while the other two teams from each group move on the high and low seed of the quarterfinals respectively.
Playoffs
The final six teams will go against each other in a single-elimination bracket where the quarterfinals and the semifinals will feature a BO3 series, while the grand final will showcase a BO5 matchup.
Prize Pool
The total prize pool of $1,000,000 USD (INR 7,89,35,700) will be split between all the 24 competing teams that managed to qualify for IEM Cologne 2022.
Along with this prize money, the top eight teams will also be receiving BLAST Premier circuit points.
Livestreams
The IEM Cologne 2022 will be livestreamed across multiple platforms like Twitch and YouTube, in seven different languages.
IEM Cologne 2022 will be played offline, the first two stages taking place in a studio environment followed by the top six teams competing in the playoffs that will be held at the historic LANXESS Arena complete with a packed live audience.
