CS:GO Registers More Than 1 Million Concurrent Players After 11 Months
Playing the game is primary, saving the logo in r/places is secondary.
CS:GO probably has one of the most dedicated communities among all esports titles. The game which is about to turn a decade old in August later this year has once again achieved a peak of more than one million concurrent players after a gap of almost an entire year.
A few days ago on 3rd April, CS:GO clocked in 1,013,237 active concurrent players at 17:00 (IST) as per Steam Charts, crossing the 1 million mark after almost a year. The last time CS:GO reached a similar peak was in May 2021 when 1,087,197 concurrent players were recorded competing online.
Unfortunately, the last time such a peak was achieved it was followed by a sharp decline for a few months before the average concurrent peak settled around the 950,000 mark, and then it finally crossed the million-threshold again after eleven months, which was recorded just a few days back in April.
CS:GO achieves a peak of more than one million concurrent players after eleven months
The CS:GO community was disheartened earlier today as they were not able to put up a good fight to protect its logo during the ‘r/places’ event on Reddit. However, the player base showed promise where it actually matters the most as the game registered a peak of 1,013,237 concurrent users to show their strength in numbers.
Such a figure was noticed after a gap of eleven months during which two significant events had taken place, Operation Riptide and the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. While the former was quite a disappointment with many in the community pointing out how Valve could have done a much better job with it, the latter was the first Major to take place in more than two years and became the most-watched CS:GO tournament in history, but sadly it was not enough to entice a spike in its player base.
It was quite a surprise to see the surge in the number of CS:GO players, since the start of 2022, across all metrics including the number of average players, the number of unique players gained, and peak concurrent players.
But while the average number of users playing CS:GO has dipped month on month along with the player gain percentage, the peak concurrent player count stood strong and finally attained more than a million active users in April.
