A new NFT mini-game and a social gaming platform is currently in the works.

Axie Infinity's well-known NFT (Non-Fungible Token) game developer, Sky Mavis, has revealed a ton of interesting new material for players to look forward to. This information was made public at the inaugural AxieCon, which took place in Barcelona, Spain. New in-game elements, a mini-game for Axie Infinity Land Owners, and a virtual social platform for NFT fans to congregate and play were all included in the announcement. The majority of the features are currently being developed but could be published shortly. The Axie Infinity: Origins update, however, has already been made available and is currently in its first season with a ton of fresh material to explore.

Axie Infinity: Origins Season 1

Sky Mavis announced that the Axie Infinity update titled “Origin” will be renamed to “Origins” to further emphasize the new content featuring “Origin Axies.” The first season of the game is currently ongoing with a massive prize pool of 112,000 AXS (Axie Infinity Shards). The top player for this season will take home a total of 6,750 AXS. AXS is an in-game currency for Axie Infinity and can be converted to real-world currency or can be used to buy an assortment of in-game content in the marketplace.

Upgradable accessories and Axie parts

Parts can be upgraded in the new update and will unlock a vertical progression for Axies. Upgrading a part will improve the creature’s stats as well as unlock unique visual effects.

The new accessories will allow players to personalize their Axies using unique cosmetic items that can be obtained through various means.

Project K - Land

According to Sky Mavis, the Project K - Land is one of its very ambitious projects that aims to push the boundaries of Web3 games. The upcoming game will serve as the gathering place for the Axie Infinity digital nation to play, socialize, and build. There will also be a lot of gameplay mechanics such as simulation, strategy, and role-playing, as well as metaverse elements for the community to explore.

An off-chain alpha build is scheduled to be released at the end of 2022 and will feature resource gathering, processing, and building structures, which allow players to craft items to sell. Features such as an auction house will allow players to trade off-chain items within the game which will need to be transported across the virtual land.

An idle combat system will also be featured in the game. This allows players to sell crafted items to NPCs who will use them to fight enemies. In return, players will get currency to build up their land. The quality of the items sold will determine the performance and outcome of the battle. The top player will receive the most rewards at the end of each season.

Land Mini-Game: Axie Infinity Raylights

On top of Project K - Land, Sky Mavis is also developing a mini-game that uses Land NFTs for Axie Infinity players.

In the mini-game, players use minerals to craft, grow and discover various plants, which they can use to decorate their land plot. New in-game content can be unlocked as players progress through the mini-game.

It looks like Sky Mavis plans to expand Axie Infinity to more than just one game. With a plethora of upcoming content, fans will have a lot to explore as the NFT landscape of the game continues to grow larger.
