SEA Icon Series Might Affect Wild Rift Changes in the Future according to devs. The regional Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Preseason is underway. The best teams from each region will compete with each other for bragging rights and a place in the main tournament. It looks like the devs also have their eyes on the tournament observing and taking notes for future balance changes. A few of their observations were posted on Twitter by Wild Rift game manager, Jonathan Chao. Here is a quick look at what changes we can expect following the SEA Icon Series 2021: Preseason - Vietnam.

During the SEA Icon Series 2021: Preseason - Vietnam, the devs observed how pro players performed in the tournament and saw a few interesting things they might investigate further.

According to Wild Rift game manager, Jonathan Chao, they observed that some of the lowest win-rate champions in solo queue are currently doing well in the tournament. However, they refuse to share any statistics for now, as it might affect how players perceive champions in other upcoming tournaments.

He also stated that he is aware of the solo and duo lane swap, which goes against their goal for Wild Rift. They wanted the lanes to stay the way they were intended to be, and lane swaps might break the game’s meta due to how fast the matches are, compared to the PC counterpart.

He also observed how most pro players always rush the locket enchantment in the game. This has been a norm in casual and professional matches as the locket enchant is important in clutch plays. However, the devs have been making a few changes to these enchantments to add diversity to the game.

The locket’s recent changes reduced its effectiveness if stacked with other player’s locket or redeeming enchantment.

The Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Preseason is still in its infancy with only the Vietnam series coming to a close. With six other pre-season tournaments taking place through March 2021, the devs will be able to properly analyze and figure out necessary improvements for the mobile MOBA.
