  • PUBG New State will not be launching in India but the reasons behind this decision are currently unknown.
  • This does not rule out the possibility of the game releasing in the country in the future. China and Vietnam have also been excluded from the launch of PUBG: New State.

Krafton just announced its new PUBG Mobile title dubbed “PUBG: New State” and opened up pre-registrations for mobile games. South Korean companies Krafton and PUBG Studio have been credited for developing the game in contrast to PUBG Mobile which was developed by the Chinese company Tencent. But despite the game being developed by the South Korean studio, it does not seem like players from India, Vietnam and China will get to play it just yet. IGN India reported that the official press release sent out by Krafton reveals that PUBG: New State will offer a global release “excluding China, Vietnam, and India” which might disappoint a lot of fans.

A document from the official PUBG: New State website indicates that the game is unlikely to release in India.

Why Will PUBG: New State Not Release in India

Despite the lack of involvement from Chinese companies like Tencent, PUBG New State will not immediately launch in India. Krafton revealed this via an official press release which stated that the game is being developed by “PUBG Studio, the creators of the original battle royale, PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS.” The reason for India's exclusion from launch is currently unknown, but this does not necessarily rule out a future release of the game in the country.

In 2020, PUBG Mobile was banned in India along with over 200 Chinese apps and games. The Indian government deemed them to be “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”. IGN India’s sources have stated under anonymity that the Indian government has no intentions of unbanning PUBG Mobile.

However, a few popular Indian esports personalities have stated that the game is merely delayed and that it will launch in India after a few days.

Krafton has been actively working with Indian esports organizations. Recently, it announced a partnership with NODWIN Gaming to promote its flagship PUBG PC esports event PUBG Global Invitational.S (PGI.S). Krafton has also recently hired a new operations team and a new regional head

The game is available for pre-registration on Android and iOS users will be able to sign up in the near future as well. All registrants will receive a free in-game vehicle in celebration of the announcement.
