PUBG Mobile 2 is Reportedly in the Works

  • The company also revealed they are making a horror game,The Callisto Protocol, which is based around the PUBG franchise's universe set around 300 years in the future.
  • Chang-han also stated that they are planning on making animations, webtoons, dramas and movies based aroung the PUBG Franchise and is open to acquire talented teams to achieve this goal.

The Battle Royale genre saw massive growth in the mobile game market last year. One of the popular mobile game titles, PUBG Mobile, saw this opportunity to expand their game’s universe by creating sequels or games based on their game’s universe.

PUBG Mobile Sequel Revealed

The CEO of Krafton, Kim Chang-han, has confirmed previous leaks about an upcoming sequel for PUBG Mobile through an interview with Bloomberg Technology on Jan. 19, 2021

Chang-han said in the interview that they are planning on turning PUBG into a bigger franchise and not just a “one-hit-wonder.”

 “I think the more important thing is how the company can utilize the intellectual property of PUBG and how it can make that into an even bigger franchise,” Chang-han told Bloomberg.

The interview also revealed that the company is working on a horror game based around the PUBG universe that’s set 300 years into the future. The new game, The Calisto Protocol, will be released in 2022.

Recently, PUBG data miner, PlayerIGN, posted screenshots of a press release from Krafton that pointed to a potential sequel for their hit game franchise PUBG Mobile. The new game is hidden under the title ProjecktXRTM. This might just be the sequel for PUBG Mobile we’ve all been waiting for. 

Chang-han also confirmed that an animated show and a webtoon based on their popular game franchise is in the works and will soon be available on streaming platforms. The company aims to expand into making movies and dramas in the future and is open to acquiring talented teams to make this dream possible.

The universe of PUBG Mobile is expanding as the years go by. Soon enough, it won’t just be a mobile game as it will also have its own movies, dramas, and comics, making the franchise bigger than it was before. It would be interesting to see the development of this game franchise in the years to come.
