Dr Disrespect is no stranger to controversy. On 11th June 2019, he live-streamed from a bathroom at E3 which led his stream to be suspended. Recently, he made yet another controversial remark about mobile esports. In a tweet, he described his state-of-the-art gaming setup and then made a sly comparison of it with mobiles, raising the question of whether mobile gaming should be taken seriously.

This led to an uproar on social media with many prominent mobile gaming personalities cranking the heat up with their own tweets and takes on the situation. Given that the ‘PC vs Mobile’ debate isn’t new and has seen quite some escalation in the recent past, with Dr Disrespect’s mockery has only added fuel to the fire.

Dr Disrespect vs The Mobile Gaming World

Now, he’s returned to the heated conversation with a video where he continues to throw the shade. He starts off ironically playing a video game on a flip phone and looks like he’s struggling. He says, “Come on, peak. Oh, I would’ve killed you if I had a better connection. That’s b**s***,” mocking the internet connection issues that mobile gamers periodically face. Eventually, he “realises” that the camera is live, making him slowly flip the phone shut, and asking “How long have we been live?”

This video continues with a general theme of making fun of mobile gamers and Dr Disrespect talks to ZLaner about the immense controversy his tweet caused. His main excuse is that he was just explaining what his setup was in comparison to a mobile, and then says that he “shouldn’t even say anything anymore”. He also dismisses the controversy as him just asking a question and has also apparently “learnt the lesson” to not ask such questions on Twitter.

This entire fiasco has certainly not gone down well with the mobile gaming community. Popular Call of Duty: Mobile player Luke “iFerg” Fergie even challenged Dr Disrespect to a whopping $100,000 1-versus-1 match, followed by another player Elijah ‘Hawsnest’ Jackson issuing a $10,000 wager. While Dr Disrespect hasn’t responded to any of these challenges, we can certainly say that this entire situation is yet to die down. Given Dr Disrespect openly continuing to make a mockery of mobile gaming and the mobile gaming community not taking it lightly, we’re in for a ride.
