Overview of the Indonesian Esports Scene

Indonesia has been one of the countries that are leading the way in legitimizing esports. The country recently recognized esports as a sports field, allowing video games to be contested in official competitions such as the National Games (PON).

Popular Esports titles in Indonesia

Currently, Mobile Esports titles dominate the viewership metrics in Indonesia. Both Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) and PUBG Mobile dwarf the Indonesian viewership for traditional PC titles like Dota 2.

League of Legends: Wild Rift has steadily become one of the most popular game titles in the country following the release of its open beta. With Riot Games’ track record in titles like League of Legends and VALORANT, Wild Rift is almost guaranteed to have a successful esports scene. So Team Secret might just be looking to get ahead of the curve and sign a Wild Rift roster.
