The PUBG Mobile ban imposed on 1st September sent waves through the Indian esports scene. Yesterday, professional PUBG Mobile player Parichay ‘Paradox’ Bansal revealed that his organization, Megastars, had decided to let go of its players. The move came five days after the Indian Government banned the game in the country, citing security concerns related to PUBG Mobile and 117 other apps. However, it hasn’t all been bad news. Dubai based esports organisation Galaxy Racer put out an Instagram post announcing that they are taking up a majority stake acquisition in one of India’s homegrown and highly successful esports organizations, SynerGE.
Global Esports also took to Instagram to make their new partnership with Galaxy Racer public. SynerGE & Celtz have merged to cement Galaxy Racer’s presence in India. The post reads ‘As an integral part of the GXR family, GE will concentrate on the South Asian esports ecosystem right from the heart of India.’
In a statement to AFK Gaming, Global Esports co-founder Dr Rushindra Sinha said, “We had a fruitful one year-long engagement with Sameer and Yash to make SGE what it is. Now we’d like to wish them luck with GXR as they have acquired them. We will also be working towards our own mobile lineups - please stay tuned for big announcements!”
