Mobile Legends added to Menpora Esports Cup 2020

The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Indonesia (Kemenpora or Menpora for short), together with IESPL (Indonesian Esports Premier League) is conducting the 2020 Axis Menpora Esports Cup from 17th August to 13th October 2020. The cup which was started in 2013, is aimed at students and student groups and includes sports like football. Previously, the Menpora had also held the 2019 Youth National Esports Championship which featured the Arena of Valor and Free Fire. This year, Mobile Legends has been added to the Menpora Esports 2020 Axis Cup’s titles. The Menpora Esports Cup 2020 features a total prize pool of 150,000,000 Indonesian Rupiah. The tournament kicks off on Monday, 17th August 2020 at 12.00 WIB. Registrations have begun on 1st August 2020.

The Menpora Esports Cup 2020

The Axis Menpora Esports Cup 2020 is expected to see over 10,000 participants, making up 2,048 esports teams, compete. Students will represent their schools and educational institutions for a shot at the title. With the lockdowns and health protocols, the entire series of the 2020 Menpora Esports Cup will be held online. Registration opened on 1st August with the tournament being open to students in junior highs, high schools and universities. "We will kick off on August 17th. While the qualifying round starts on October 3-4," said Giring Ganesha, co-founder and President of IESPL. Giring was appointed as the Chief Executive for the Menpora Esports Cup 2020.

In a statement, Giring thanked the Menpora for their trust in him for being appointed as the organizer of the Menpora Esports Cup 2020. Giring also said that Menpora was conducting this cup to find new talent. The matches to be conducted will be held in accordance with safety protocols and the Menpora will continue to spread awareness about precautionary measures to be taken during these times. Giring Ganesha said that he hoped the Menpora Esports Cup 2020 would be a benchmark for organising esports tournaments in the current crisis. Apart from IESPL, Samsung has also come on board as an official sponsor of the Menpora Esports Cup. Samsung Galaxy A71 will be the official device for the tournament. Champions of the Menpora Cup 2020 will get Samsung Galaxy A71s.
