Tencent announced on Twitter yesterday that they are launching PUBG Mobile Esports Awards 2020. This will give PUBG Mobile fans the opportunity to vote for their favourite pro players. As of now the PUBG Mobile Esports Awards 2020 is “launching soon,” so no other details have been given out.

This is not the first time PUBG Mobile has had in-game community voting. Previously, PUBG Mobile had asked fans to select players for a team-up event in the PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) Spring Split 2019 and the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge (PMSC) 2019. For the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge tournament, fans were asked to vote for their favourite PUBG Mobile streamers and content creators. PMSC 2019 had brought together 32 gaming creators and 48 professional players who competed with each other for the crown.

Format of PUBG Mobile Esports Awards

Whether PUBG Mobile Esports Awards will use a jury vote or just be open for season pass holders is still unclear. As of now, the voting schedule, information regarding the nominees, award categories, titles etc. haven’t been declared. We will have to wait and see how the first PUBG Mobile Esports Awards will be structured.

2020 has been a huge year for mobile esports, and especially so for PUBG Mobile esports.  PUBG Mobile introduced Pro and World Leagues with the entire competitive year giving out a prize pool of over $5 million. The PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL) season zero concluded its opening weekend from 11th to 12th July and is currently in the middle of 3 weeks of League Play which started yesterday for both the East and West divisions. A total of 40 teams are competing for a share of the $850,000 prize pool. The competitive season will end with the PUBG Mobile World Championship (PMWC) later this year. Tencent has big plans for PMWC as they said previously that it will be the “biggest event” in the history of the game.
