Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is the most popular MOBA on the mobile platform outside of China, with a massive player base in South East Asia. 2019 was a great year for the title which saw it host the inaugural M1 World Championship, the landmark esports event for the title. The game has been downloaded over 280 Million times, since its release in 2016 and has quickly found success in countries like Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia.

In 2019, the title generated over $214 Million in revenue, which helped it surpass the 500 Million mark in terms of lifetime revenue. Other than the M1 World Championship, events like the MPL or Mobile Legends Professional League have been instrumental in driving popularity and helping the title reach mainstream success in SEA.

Currently, Honor of Kings or Arena of Valor as it is known as outside China is the MOBA with the highest revenue and downloads for the mobile platform. However, Mobile Legends is a serious competitor to the title in SEA and have a sizable chunk of the potential player base. In 2020 the battle for the biggest MOBA on mobile is only going to get bigger with League of Legends: Wild Rift also set to join in on the action. Will these titles be able to sustain or crumble under the growing competition?
