
- HotS adds Overwatch's Mei as tank, crowd control hero.
- She retains some of her Overwatch abilities with the addition of a new giant snowball and slide.
Heroes of the Storm is getting their 9th Overwatch hero. Joining the roster is ice queen Mei. HotS’s Mei is similar to her Overwatch counterpart. She specializes in crowd control and has some of the same abilities including her ultimate, Blizzard. Mei also has some new abilities like being able to slide forward on an ice path and creating a giant snowball.

Mei's in-game abilities in Heroes of the Storm are as follows. These can be enhanced using Talents as the game progresses.
Abilities
Trait [D]: Cryo-Freeze
Cooldown: 40 seconds
Mei freezes herself into a block of ice, getting a decaying Shield that absorbs damage and restoring 35% of max health.
[Q]- Snow Blind
Cost: 35 Mana
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Throws an AoE snowball that damages enemies, and slows them by 35%. They are also blinded for 1.5 seconds.
[W] - Blizzard
Cost: 70 Mana
Cooldown: 14 seconds
Make Snowball create a blizzard at a target location for 2 seconds. Enemies inside the blizzard take damage every .25 seconds and are Slowed by 7% which stacks up to 35%. At the end of the blizzard enemies inside it take additional damage and are stunned for 1.25 seconds.
[E] - Icing
Cost: 70 Mana
Cooldown: 14 seconds.
Makes Mei slide in the target direction. At the end of the effect, enemies near Mei are knocked back, take damage, and are Slowed by 80%.
Heroic Abilities
[R1] - Avalanche
Cost: 70 Mana
Cooldown: 65 seconds
After 0.5 seconds, roll a giant snowball that traps enemy Heroes in its path inside it. At the end of its path, the snowball disintegrates, releasing the Heroes, dealing damage and stunning them for 0.5 per Hero consumed.
[R2] - Ice Wall
Cost: 60 Mana
Cooldown: 90 seconds
After a 0.75 second delay, create an impassible wall that traps enemy Heroes inside it for 2.5 seconds. When the wall breaks, trapped Heroes are slowed by 75%, decaying over 3 seconds.
Blizzard had announced in 2019 that they were toning down production on Heroes of the Storm. Despite this declaration, Heroes of the Storm is still being supported with additions such as Deathwing from World of Warcraft and now Mei. Mei’s skins will be a series of pajama onesies.
