  • Evo 2020 moves online with 13 games being played online.
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to be excluded from the event.

Evo 2020, the world’s biggest fighting game tournament is moving online with one notable exception; Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As the lockdown forces organisers to cancel, reschedule or move events online, Evo has also decided to tweak its tournament. Initially. Evo 2020 was set to happen in Las Vegas this July with the event including tournaments for games like Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5 and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Evo Schedule

In a new video, the event will take place online over 5 weekends:

  • 4th - 5th July
  • 11th - 12 July
  • 18th - 19th July
  • 25th - 26th July
  • 31st July - 2nd August: Championship Weekend

The event will also include 4 open brackets for Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath, Killer Instinct, Them’s Fightin Herds and Skullgirls 2nd Encore. While that will include “special exhibitions and content” for the original lineup, going online may also make it more interactive for fans.

Games at Evo

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will unfortunately not be featured as part of this year’s Evo main event due to players constantly disconnecting and the poor performance of the game’s online netcode.

In total, there will be 13 games featured on the Evo Online equivalent to the tournament’s main stage. Further details of when each game will be played are still to be declared, but this format gives the Evo team space between events to fix any errors that might occur.

  • Street Fighter V: Champion Edition
  • Tekken 7
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Samurai Shodown
  • Granblue Fantasy Versus
  • SoulCalibur VI
  • Under Night In-Birth
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (20urnament of champions)
  • Killer Instinct
  • Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath
  • Them’s Fightin’ Herds
  • Skullgirls 2nd Encore
