- The top 4 teams from each region will face off during the 2020 Mid-Season Cup
From May 28th to May 31st, the top 4 teams from both LPL and LCK will be participating in a 4-day event called the 2020 Mid-Season Cup. In this star-studded showcase of League of Legends talent, the best teams from each league’s 2020 Spring Splits will face off in a series of epic matches, featuring a $ 600,000 prize pool according to Riot.
The four teams representing the LPL will be JD Gaming (LPL 2020 Spring Split Champions), Top Esports, FunPlus Phoenix and Invictus Gaming. The LCK lineup will include T1 (LCK 2020 Spring Split Champions), Gen. G, DragonX, and DAMWON Gaming.
The competition will be held online with LCK teams competing from LoL Park in Seoul and LPL teams from the Shanghai LPL Arena. The Mid-Season Cup will be broadcast live on watch.lolesports.com.
Additionally, in order to ensure the integrity of the competition, Riot Games will artificially standardize the ping level to 30-40m/s through the use of third-party tools. The close proximity of the LCK and LPL allows for the opportunity to conduct this inter-league competition that fans all over the world are eager to see.
The matches comprise the first of multiple events that will be held in May to replace the 2020 Mid-Season Invitational. Additional details on other new events happening in the Mid-Season Invitational window will be announced in the coming weeks.
