  • Volibear's brand new abilities make his jungle ganks even more terrifying.

Riot has finally revealed the new look and changes for Thunder’s Roar, Volibear, in a livestream event on 8th May. We also got a full look at his new abilities and skins. The new character model is more in line with the theme of “lightning-fueled Freljordian demigod”.

While the exact stats for each ability are yet to be seen, his kit now includes a terrifying new uninterruptible ultimate that sees the bear jump to enemies, gaining health, and temporarily disabling turret fire, making his jungle ganks even scarier. His old ultimate, the area-of-effect chain lightning, has been modified and is now part of his passive. Check out LS’s first impressions of the demigod:

Volibear's New abilities

Passive - Volibear's attacks and abilities grant attack speed and eventually cause his basic attacks to deal bonus magic damage to nearby enemies.

- Volibear gains speed towards enemies, stunning and damaging the first one he attacks.

W - Volibear damages an enemy, applying on-hit effects and marking them. Casting this spell again on the same target deals bonus damage and heals Volibear.

E - Volibear summons a lightning bolt at a location, dealing damage and slowing enemies while granting Volibear a shield if he's inside the blast radius.

R - Volibear leaps to a target location, slowing and damaging enemies beneath him while gaining bonus health. Enemy towers near his landing location become temporarily disabled.

With the changes to his kit, he may be now played as a top, jungler or even support. Riot also announced a limited-time ARAM event where players can unlock an exclusive emote until the 12th of May. However, Voli mains will have to wait till he is added to live servers on 28th May but will be able to test the latest changes on PBE starting 12th May.
