The OG social media accounts have announced that ana will step away from competitive Dota 2. Given that Anathan "ana" Pham returned to the professional circuit only two months ago, this is certainly a surprising development. In his parting statement, the Australian carry mentioned that he had been thinking about retirement for a while now but now had taken this decision as he had started to “find and appreciate other things in life that he wants to learn about and explore.” He retired nearly eight years after making his debut with Mobility Gaming in 2013. He had joined OG for the first time in 2016. As one of only five players to win two TI titles along with his OG teammates, ana leaves behind a lasting legacy.

Ana departs from OG and steps away from Dota 2
Ana on his departure from OG and his retirement said,
“The past few years have been an incredible journey and it is finally time for me to say that I’ll be stepping away from Dota.
The OG squad has been incredibly understanding and accommodating and I feel that this decision is the best for not only myself but the team as well. I have learned so much both inside of Dota and outside of the game with OG.
This organization will always feel like home to me. This game will always hold a special place in my heart and I am immensely grateful to the Dota community and the people I have met along the way. I also want to add a special thanks to my family and friends.”
OG thanked the 21-year-old carry for his contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Ana had moved to OG’s inactive roster in January 2020. Following OG’s disappointing first season in the DPC, he returned in April 2021. After seeing him reunited with the squad, fans hoped that he would lead OG to great success during the second DPC season. Unfortunately, things did not go down as they expected.
Ana goes down in history as one of the most successful Dota 2 players, winning $6,004,411 USD in prize money. In addition to winning back-to-back TIs in 2018 and 2019, Ana also won two Major titles, the Boston Major 2016 and the Kiev Major 2017, and many other major events during his time with OG. It is amazing to think that a young man of just 21 years old could accomplish all of these things.
OG’s current roster after ana’s departure is:
- TBD
- Topias Miikka "Topson" Taavitsainen
- Sébastien "Ceb" Debs
- Martin "Saksa" Sazdov
- Johan "N0tail" Sundstein
OG’s new roster will likely debut in the ESL One Summer tournament scheduled to take place from 16 Jun - 20 Jun 2021.
