Team Secret was expected to take over the EU DPC league in the second season as well after having wreaked havoc in the first one, ending with a flawless 7-0 W-L record. But apparently, the team did not perform to its potential in the EU 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division as they barely managed to secure a Major slot. Talking about why Team Secret faltered in S2, Secret’s safelaner, Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen, stated that his team had attempted to change their playstyle entirely which backfired on them. In addition, MATUMBAMAN also attributed his team’s declining results to the improvement in the gameplay of other teams like Team Nigma and OG - two matchups that they had lost 2-0.

MATUMBAMAN talks about Team Secret’s results in the EU 2021 DPC Season 2
Team Secret ended the EU 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division with four wins and three losses, finishing in the fourth spot to earn the wild card spot at the AniMajor. After their last series win against Brame, MATUMBAMAN summarized the result.
“I mean it is supposed to be the last of the DPC leagues, it was pretty alright. Sometimes a little rough and sometimes easy. A little bit on the rougher side now but I think we managed to do okay after a catastrophic start.”
MATUMBAMAN then threw light on why Team Secret’s performances had worsened in this season. Though the outright change in playstyle had affected the team’s performances, MATUMBAMAN mentioned that the team was getting back into the groove slowly.
“I mean, it’s a combination of everything. Everyone’s trying, Nigma and OG especially on the edge of not making it to TI even but they have really stepped up their game right now. And for us, what can I say is I suppose we tried to change our playstyle in one go and it kinda backfired on us. Then, it was hard to distinguish what’s actually good we are doing. It was a little bit too much but we are getting there slowly.”
On being asked about the reason behind the change in playstyle, MATUMBAMAN hilarious said, “Aah, wanna win 10 million US dollars.”
