Alliance defeats Team Nigma in a nailbiter at the EU 2021 DPC Season 2

Recap

The EU 2021 DPC Season 2 resumed on April 25, 2021, with a couple of exciting matches. After Team Secret defeated Tundra Esports 2-1, Alliance faced Team Nigma in a thriller.

Game 1 saw Team Nigma cruising to victory at one stage with a 10k lead and two enemy barracks destroyed. But Nikobaby’s Divine Rapier purchase allowed Alliance to make a comeback into the game as they magnificently chain-stunned iLTW a couple of times, killing him without buyback. iLTW’s own Divine Rapier also dropped to the ground, which allowed Alliance to win the game in 50 minutes.

Game 2 witnessed Team Nigma making a turnaround as they punished Alliance’s over aggression. Alliance had the game in the bag at around 24 minutes but they overstayed their welcome on Team Nigma’s side. The supports of Team Nigma were spot on with their saves as they registered a comeback to win the game in 41 minutes.

Game 3 saw a much more clinical performance from Alliance as they outplayed their enemies with their spellcasting. Handsken was on point with his Disruption saves whenever iLTW locked down Nikobaby in the Chronosphere. While Nigma had their little moments, Alliance secured the victory in 40 minutes.

Highlights

Here are some highlights of the series.

Alliance is looking hot in the EU 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division as they have already taken down the stronger teams in the form of OG, Liquid, and Nigma. Unless teams like Brame and Hellbear Smashers pull off upsets against Alliance, they are now most likely going to the next Major. On the other hand, Team Nigma, who looked splendid in their opening encounter against Secret, have suffered back-to-back defeats. However, both of these were very close affairs and KuroKy, and his teammates will back themselves to get back to winning.

Interview: Alliance Handsken talks about the matchups against Liquid, OG, and Nigma

Alliance’s support player, Simon "Handsken" Haag, talked about the teamfight-heavy series against all their three opponents - Team Liquid, OG, and Team Nigma. All the three matches had gone to the full distance and had involved some amusing Dota 2 gameplay.

“I mean, we played what - OG, Nigma and Liquid. They are all very strong teams, evenly matched in terms of skill and also the style is quite similar right now. I just think all these teams really like to fight. You know, I am happy we won the series (against Nigma) but it could have gone either way. I think every series has been 2-1 for us. Yeah, it’s been intense for sure.”
