  • MidOne mentioned in a post-match winners' interview that though ana might be a relatively better player, he had his own style of playing and was determined on proving himself.
  • This statement by the Malaysian player has come after he was "kicked" from OG to make way for ana.
  • MidOne is currently captaining Team SMG and will be seen in action with the team on April 24, 2021, against Motivate.Trust Gaming.

MidOne, who is leading his new Dota 2 squad, Team SMG, mentioned in a post-match winners’ interview in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 2: Lower Division that though ana might be a relatively better player, he had his own style of playing and was determined to prove himself. Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng has given this statement, perhaps in a reply to his “kick” from OG as he was replaced for Anathan "ana" Pham after the team’s tough outing in the EU DPC Season 1. In addition, the Malaysian carry also talked about his return to the SEA region and the level of competition in the region.

MidOne talks about redeeming himself after the kick from OG and his time in SEA

Before OG and MidOne officially parted ways with each other, the latter had already hinted at this roster change by tweeting that he would “become a god again.” After the 2-0 win over Team Mystery in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 2: Lower Division, the Malaysian carry reiterated similar confidence in the post-match interview.

“I declared on Twitter, mentioning that I’ll become a god again. I got kicked, like whatever, I’ve accepted it. Sure, maybe ana is just better, who cares. I am not ana, I am just saying I have my own style. Yeah, I am gonna prove it myself again. So I can say, sorry for the disappointing performance but I’ll be right back.”

MidOne also revealed that he was the captain of Team SMG but it wasn’t a cakewalk for him since it was his first time leading a squad. When he was asked about whether he found the SEA Dota 2 scene easy, compared to Europe, he mentioned that SEA players had evolved into better professionals over time and that it was not easy playing in the region.

“I wouldn’t say it is easy. It is my first time trying to lead a team and yeah, it’s my first time. I wouldn’t say it is easy because I think people got better in SEA also and it’s not that simple. I need to be a better player too at the same time so yeah, it’s still great to be in SEA because it’s my home country in Malaysia. It feels good to breathe in the air and more exciting food.”

MidOne had joined Team SMG in the SEA region after his exit from OG. They had secured a Lower Division spot after winning the second round of open qualifiers. Team SMG is currently 2-0 in the win-loss record in the Lower Division and will be playing their next series on April 24, 2021, against Motivate.Trust Gaming. MidOne and his teammates will be seeking revenge as Motivate.Trust Gaming had knocked them out of the first round of open qualifiers.
