The second day of the Singapore Major playoffs, April 1, 2021, had four elimination series in the lower bracket round 1. In the first one, OB.Neon registered a surprising 2-1 win over Fnatic. Vici Gaming faced against Team Liquid in the second series of the day. This elimination series saw these teams compete against each other for the third time in the tournament. While Vici Gaming had registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Liquid in the wild card, Liquid had bounced back in the group stage to beat the Chinese squad 2-0 in the group stage.
Despite putting up a solid fight, Liquid was outplayed by a much better team on the day. Vici Gaming looked spot on with their drafting strategies and gameplay execution as they registered a comprehensive 2-0 win.
Thunder Predator, whose undefeated series streak in the Singapore Major was ended by the widely considered favorites, Team Secret, fought for survival against Team Aster in the third elimination series of the day. The SA squad looked hot again as they showed some high-quality Dota 2 to register a 2-0 win over Aster. Their mid laner, Leostyle, was the MVP as he ended the series with an impressive 27-5-18 KDA.
Virtus.pro vs Quincy Crew was arguably the most anticipated series of the day. While Virtus.pro had come into the tournament as one of the top contenders behind Team Secret, their performance in their first upper bracket series against PSG.LGD was pretty underwhelming. In the first game of the lower bracket series, Virtus.pro was overwhelmed by Quinn’s safe lane Io - a hero that he played for the first time in the tournament. However, the CIS squad, was able to hold their nerves to reverse sweep the NA squad and take the series 2-1.
