Quincy Crew MSS to Miss Singapore Major Due to Positive COVID-19 Test

  • Quincy Crew's support player, MSS, has contracted COVID-19 and hence, will be missing the ONE Esports Singapore Major.
  • Team manager, KBBQ, has communicated that they are trying to secure a sub who can get processed in time to travel to the Major.

Quincy Crew’s position four player, MSS, has tested positive for COVID-19 and, as a result, will be missing the ONE Esports Singapore Major that is scheduled for March 27 - April 4, 2021. Team manager, Jack "KBBQ" Chen, announced this piece of unfortunate news through his Twitter handle, stating that Arif "MSS" Anwar will be unable to travel to Singapore though his symptoms are mild and he is doing well so far. Quincy Crew is the fourth team competing in the Singapore Major after Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, and Neon Esports, who have all faced player struggles due to COVID-19 and other physical illness complications.

Quincy Crew to miss MSS at the ONE Esports Singapore Major

KBBQ also stated that the team was searching for a substitute for MSS who could get processed in time to travel to the Major.

This forced roster change has come at a critical phase as the Major is only five days from kicking off. Considering the circumstances, there is a chance that Quincy Crew will be playing at the tournament with a local SEA player.

Quincy Crew’s roster for the Singapore Major without MSS:

  2. Quinn "Quinn" Callahan
  3. Rodrigo "Lelis" Santos

  5. Avery "SVG" Silverman

MSS has been a part of the current Quincy Crew roster since March 2020. The team had a spectacular period of online Dota 2, winning eight tournaments in a row that included ESL One Thailand 2020: Americas and Realms Collide: The Burning Darkness.

With EG hardly playing any Dota 2 in NA in 2020, Quincy Crew wreaked havoc in the region.

In the recently concluded DPC season, they finished second in the NA region after they lost the tiebreakers against Evil Geniuses. As a result of their second-place finish, the team has secured a Major group stage spot. The group stage is scheduled for March 29-30, 2021.

In addition to Quincy Crew, Natus Vincere, Virtus.pro, and Neon Esports are the three teams that have been impacted due to player illnesses. Natus Vincere will be missing the services of Iceberg and ALWAYSWANNAFLY. The two players have been replaced by RAMZES666 and their coach, Mag, for the Major. For Virtus.pro, their carry player Nightfall is suffering from unfavorable health conditions and so CIS player iLTW, has been added to their Major squad as a potential stand-in in case Nightfall fails to recover in time. Neon Esports has added Filipino player, Rappy, to the team for the tournament as their carry, Natsumi-, is unfit to travel to Singapore.
