Omega Esports are now guaranteed a top-two finish in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 1: Lower Division, following Galaxy Racer’s 2-0 victory over Cignal Ultra a few hours back. This means that Omega Esports has now become the first team from the SEA region that will be promoted from the Lower to the Upper Division, in the second season of the DPC which is scheduled to take place from 13 April to 23 May. Omega currently records five wins and only one loss, after having played a total of six series, comfortably placing them on top of the points table in the Lower Division. Omega Esports gets promoted to the SEA 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division

Omega Esports were widely considered as one of the favorites to finish in the top two of the SEA 2021 DPC Season 1: Lower Division, and they have managed to do so on the back of multiple impressive performances.

They opened up their DPC campaign with a comprehensive 2-0 victory against ZeroTwo, and then continued to defeat Yangon Galacticos 2-1, HOYO 2-0, and Galaxy Racer 2-1, over the next couple of weeks. Their four series’ unbeaten streak came to an end against the Mongolian squad of Lilgun, resulting in a massive upset. However, Omega immediately bounced back in their next series against Cignal Ultra to register their fifth win.

Omega Esports and Cignal Ultra were considered as the top contenders to finish in the top two at the start of the tournament.
Regardless of a win or a loss in their final series against Army Geniuses which will be taking place on 24 Feb, Omega has mathematically secured themselves a berth in the Upper Division of DPC Season 2. While a first-place finish is going to award them $17,000 USD, a second-place finish is no less offering $16,000. Despite winning a handsome cash prize, teams in the Lower Division are not going to be granted any DPC points.

Omega Esports’ roster contains members from the Adroit Esports lineup that disbanded in November 2020, owing to problems caused by the pandemic. They were then signed by this Filipino organization in December 2020.

  1. Justine “Tino” Grimaldo
  2. Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva
  3. Jun “Bok” Kanehara
  4. Marvin “Boombacs” Rushton
  5. Bryle “cml” Alviso

Omega Esports will certainly be elated with their performances that have promoted them to the Upper Division of the second season, after failing to make the cut in the first one. While they have managed to claim the first slot, the race for the second Upper Division slot is still on between Lilgun, Galaxy Racer, Cignal Ultra, and Army Geniuses.
