XBOCT explains why Dendi still plays professionally

XBOCT showed camaraderie towards his old friend Dendi by supporting his decision to continue playing professional Dota 2. XBOCT stated that Dendi was like every other Dota 2 player who is fond of playing the game at the highest level.

“Why doesn't Danil (Dendi) quit? He gets high, he likes it. You play Dota, you enjoy it and that is why he plays it. You don't have access to professional Dota, and he does. Why can't he play where he likes?”

XBOCT then also mentioned his reasons for retiring from Dota 2..

“I don't like to lose, it's very hard for me to lose. The moment I started to lose, when I started to get more losses on a regular basis and did not see how I could fix it, I realized that I could make money in other ways. I couldn't win anymore because I was too lazy to train, I didn't have a team, I didn't have a skill set. So I realized that I have to quit.”

XBOCT and Dendi were among the first major Dota 2 celebrities enjoying a lot of fame and success in the early days of the game. During their time at Natus Vincere from 2010-15, the two Ukrainians were able to emerge as the champions of TI1 and finished as the runner-ups of TI2 and TI3. While XBOCT left Natus Vincere to join Team Empire in 2015 and later stopped playing Dota 2 professionally in 2017, Dendi continued to play for Natus Vincere till 2018 and now competes with his own team, B8 Esports.

Unfortunately for Dendi, he has not been enjoying the same amount of success he did in the early days of his career. His team has been struggling in the CIS 2021 DPC Season 1: Lower Division as they are currently placed at the last spot with one win in five series. Wins in the remaining two series in the tournament will be consequential for B8 to stay in the Lower Division in the next season.
