SEA DPC League S1: Day 2 Recap Of Closed Qualifier Stage 2

Day 2 of Stage 2 of the closed qualifier concluded yesterday at DPC-SEA 2021 S1.
A total of 10 series took place among six teams in two groups- A and B.
The final day of Stage 2 will be held tomorrow, January 10, which will determine the eight teams that move to the Lower Division.

Things are getting hot in the SEA region as we are just one day away from determining the teams that move to the Lower Division. Day 2 of the closed qualifier Stage 2 concluded today with another round of 10 BO2 series. 

We take a look at which teams are close to qualifying based on their standings after Day 2.

SEA Closed Qualifier Stage 2: Group A Results After Day 2

Group A consists of two teams from Stage 1 which are Galaxy Racer and Cignal Ultra and four teams from the open qualifiers namely Lilgun, HOYO, Team Veteran and The Prime. Here is the seeding of these six teams after Day 2.

1. Galaxy Racer- The Malaysians have stuck onto their first place position after the conclusion of Day 2. Their only series today came against HOYO which they won 2-0. They have won two and drawn one out of the three series played.

2. HOYO- Forev’s stack is having a great run at the 2021 DPC Season as they sit on the number two spot in the table. They lost their first series of Stage to Galaxy Racer but lost 0-2 to Cignal Ultra who forfeited the second game. HOYO now has two wins, one draw and one loss after four series.

3. Cignal Ultra- The Filipinos drew their first series of Day 2 against Team Veteran and lost the second one against HOYO. Unfortunately, they had to forfeit their second match against HOYO for unknown reasons. They stand at the number three spot with one win, one draw and one loss after three series.

4. Lilgun- The last team to qualify from the open qualifiers is currently in the safe zone as it is placed at the number four spot. They played a solitary series on Day 2 against Team Veteran which was tied at 1-1. Lilgun has now drawn all of their three series.

5. Team Veteran- The squad from Myanmar drew against Cignal Ultra and Lilgun on Day 2 of Stage 2. They stand at the number five spot with three draws and one loss. 

6. The Prime- The Prime did not play any matches on Day 2 and so find themselves struggling at the last spot in the table. They have two losses and one draw after three series.

SEA Closed Qualifier Stage 2: Group B Results After Day 2

Group B consists of the remaining two teams from Stage 1 that were relegated to Stage 2- Omega Esports and Team SMG. Four open qualifier teams which are Army Geniuses, Yangon Galacticos, ZeroTwo and Assault are the other teams in Group B.

1. Omega Esports- The ex-Adroit Esports boys sit on top of the table in Group B after drawing their series against Army Geniuses and winning against ZeroTwo on Day 2. They have two wins and one draw after three series.

2. Yangon Galacticos- The squad is placed at the number two position in the table after they won against Army Geniuses but lost to Veteran on Day 2. They have two wins, one draw and one loss after three series.

3. Assault- The Malaysians have jumped up two spots from number five to three after winning the opening series of Day 2 against Yangon Galacticos. They have one win, one draw and one loss after three series.

3. ZeroTwo- inYourdreaM’s stack is tied at the number three spot alongside Assault after they won their series against Team SMG but lost against Omega Esports on Day 2. They also have one win, one draw and one loss after three series.

5. Army Geniuses- Army Geniuses is currently in the danger zone as they sit at the number five spot in the group stage table. They drew against Team SMG and Omega Esports but lost to Yangon Galacticos on Day 2. They have three draws and one loss after four series.

6. Team SMG- Arguably the most disappointing performance for both the teams and their fans, Mushi’s squad is placed at the bottom of the table after they drew against Army Geniuses but lost to ZeroTwo on Day 2. They now have one draw and two losses after three series.

Except for Mushi’s team, Team SMG, three of the remaining Stage 1 teams’ performance has been strong and convincing. Open Qualifier teams are also putting up a decent show so the final day is set to be an exciting and competitive one.
