Neon Esports Cruises To Upper Division Of DPC-SEA 2021

A revamped yet skilled group of players for Neon Esports delivered a strong showing at Stage 1 of the closed qualifier.

Their round 1 series came against the former boys of Adroit Esports, Omega Esports. An even and close game as it was turning out to be, a couple of failed teamfights for Omega led to their demise in the first game. Almost similar drafts came out from both the teams in the second game but Neon was too good on the day as they outplayed Omega to end the match in 33 minutes and take the series 2-0.

Neon’s next round of series came against Vice Esports, the winner of which would make it to the Upper Division. The series was a cakewalk for the side of Neon as they decimated Vice Esports in both the games. Game 1 ended in 30 minutes with a scoreline of 42-5 and Game 2 in 34 minutes with a scoreline of 44-12 in favor of Neon.

The boys from the Philippines are looking hot and a level beyond their competitors. An Upper-Division spot must have overwhelmed them with satisfaction and they will look to performing similarly against the top SEA teams.

Another team that stood out in Stage 1 of the closed qualifier was 496 Gaming as they made easy work of their opponents.

Their initial series came against Mushi’s squad, Team SMG, which they crushed. SMG tried an Anti-Mage strategy in Game 1 but a stellar carry and mid performance from 496 with a combined KDA of 25-0-27 ensured that the Anti-Mage got no time. Game 2 did not witness SMG’s fortune change as another spectacular mid and carry performance outclassed them. This time, their combined KDA was 34-1-24.

496 Gaming’s next round was against Execration, the winner of which would determine the second spot to Upper Division. Game 1 was a neck and neck contest but once more, 496’s mid and carry players were just impeccable in their gameplay. The match ended in their favor in 43 minutes with a scoreline of 51-30. Game 2 was complete carnage by 496 as they ended the match in just 36 minutes with 56 kills to close out the series 2-0.

496 Gaming, similar to Neon Esports, is one of the seasoned squads in this closed qualifier and through their stunning gameplay has made it to the Upper Division. Both these teams will begin their Regional League campaign on January 18 and will look to defy the odds to reach the first Major of the season.
