The Dota Pro Circuit is working in full swing in the SEA region as the first round of open qualifiers has come to a close. Army Geniuses and Forev’s stack, HOYO, defeated Motivate.Trust Gaming and Team Cow (inYourdreaM’s stack) to qualify to Stage 2 of the closed qualifiers.
HOYO and Army Geniuses Shine At The First Round Of Open Qualifiers in DPC-SEA 2021
Not only has the open qualifiers witnessed a number of competent teams, but some top free agents of the SEA region have also come together to compete as stacks. One of these stacks, HOYO, which comprises the ex-Motivate.Trust Gaming and former-T1 players have outplayed the other teams to reach Stage 2 of closed qualifiers.
HOYO’s squad for the DPC 2020-21:

- Poomipat "Fearless" Trisiripanit
- Lee "Forev" Sang-don
- Tri "Jhocam" Kuncoro
- Anurat "boombell" Praianun
They defeated Warning, Monkey Business, Sincerely Fury and Alpha Sports to reach the Semifinals where they faced another stack consisting of top players, Team Cow. Expected to be a close contest, the match was a stomp in favour of HOYO as they defeated Team Cow with ease.
Army Geniuses, that have been rising the ranks in recent times, also showcased some high-quality Dota 2 as they defeated Team Void, Team Veteran, Apocalypse and The Prime to reach the Semifinals where they faced Motivate.Trust Gaming. The match was another one-sided affair as Army Geniuses was able to take the victory in just 28 minutes.
Stage 1 is currently ongoing with eight teams. The top four teams will qualify to the Upper Division of the SEA DPC League and join Fnatic, TNC Predator, BOOM Esports and T1.
Army Geniuses and HOYO now find themselves in Stage 2 of the closed qualifier where they will be joined by six more teams from the open qualifiers and four teams who drop down from Stage 1. Top four teams from each group will qualify to the Lower Division.
The next round of open qualifiers is to be held today, January 5, while Stage 2 takes place from January 8-10.
