Russian commentator, Vitalii Nikolaevich "v1lat" Volochai, appeared on the "Storm Snails" podcast where he talked about the likely date of the start of the open qualifiers of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021. According to v1lat, the CIS qualifiers would begin on January 6, 2021, and the DPC itself would start at the end of the month.
v1lat States That DPC Qualifiers Was Scheduled To Start On January 6, 2021
v1lat in the podcast mentioned that the qualifiers for DPC for the CIS region were scheduled to start on January 6 which is the eve of Orthodox Christmas. This day is celebrated in the areas of Ukraine and Russia on January 7. He further stated that he had written to the people involved in the DPC that it was not a good idea to restart the DPC on this particular day.
v1lat noted that the qualifiers for the tournament would begin in early January 2021 and will continue through the second week, with the Regional Leagues kicking off towards the end of January 2021.
It should be noted that this information regarding the DPC might only apply to the CIS region. It will be highly unlikely for the DPC to kick off in different regions on the same exact date. More information about this is expected to be revealed by Valve, shortly.
This possible date revelation for the open qualifiers by v1lat comes after Valve communicated last month that DPC would be resuming on January 18, 2021, in the form of regional leagues. Earlier in February this year, Valve had already announced their intention to rework their DPC system and introduce this six region format after TI10. But before the last major of the previous DPC system could even occur, the global pandemic imperilled the whole scene.
Dates for the qualifiers were not announced by Valve after this thrilling news of the resumption, which has led everybody to speculate its start date. Dota 2 statsman, Noxville, recently made a rough outline of how various teams would be placed in the upper and lower bracket divisions of this regional format.
Some Dota 2 personalities have also desired for a new patch related to the economy and map, while others have asked for a Christmas or a New Year event. So, it remains to see what Valve is up to, and we will likely know about it in the next couple of weeks.
