It looks like the coveted season of a new patch and a hero is yet to arrive as Valve has communicated that there will be a slight delay in bringing all these updates into place. Patch 7.28 and the new hero will be released in mid-December while the new season for Dota Plus begins on December 1. Also, Valve is set to resume the DPC 2021 from January 18 in the form of regional leagues.
Dota 2 To Have a New Hero and Patch By Mid-December
In what has been attributed as a long stale period in Dota 2 since the last major patch came out at the end of June, it now looks like we are out of this boredom as Valve hopefully has announced the final dates for the new patch, 7.28. While it was earlier promised by Valve to release the patch at November end, a slight delay has pushed the date to mid-December. The postponement of the patch has been caused by the new hero, who according to Valve needs some time to “cozy up for the winter.” Valve has also mentioned the word “she” when talking about the hero. So, a female hero, possibly the “Puppet Master” about whom a lot of rumours have been spreading, looks to be around the corner.

Valve announced another good news, especially for all the professional players out there as they seek to start the 2021 DPC on January 18. As per Valve, “16 teams within two divisions will compete in each of the six Regional Leagues. The best from each region will also qualify to the first Major of the season. More information on schedule and details will be available soon.” So, the DPC will seemingly resume in the ongoing online format only and as things hopefully get better, a Major might be announced in a LAN setting.

These series of upcoming renovations which are in one sense confirmations of the updates which were communicated during the Dirtetide update will keep the excitement of the people intact. These winter months have always been the season of new heroes and patches, an overall overhauling of the Dota 2 interface and thrilling in-game changes. After the return of Diretide, the Dota 2 community is certainly looking up to these changes to keep their zeal and enthusiasm of the game alive which was visibly getting lost in previous months.
