The seventh iteration of The Game Awards 2020 has finally revealed the nominations in various industry categories with Dota 2 making it to the finals in two of them. Team Secret and host, Jorien "Sheever" van der Heijden have made the game proud by being nominated for the Best Esports Team and the Best Esports Host respectively.

Team Secret And Sheever Make It To The Finals At The Game Awards 2020
Team Secret’s domination in this online epoch of esports is known to every Dota 2 fan. They have absolutely bested every opponent they faced and had an unstoppable winning streak of eight consecutive tournaments before it ended recently at ESL One Germany 2020. They were beaten by mudgolems initially and then knocked out of the tournament by Team Liquid to finish at the 4th spot.
Still, Team Secret’s sheer class and top performances spanning from May to September 2020 has been written down as one of the most dominating phases in Dota 2 history. As a result, they have rightfully been placed as a contender for the Best Esports Team in 2020. They are battling it out with teams from Overwatch League, League of Legends and Call of Duty.
Dota 2 host, Sheever, is another Dota 2 figure who has found herself in the nominations for the Best Esports Host which includes renowned hosts from other games as well. Sheever is one of the most beloved Dota 2 personalities, widely known for hosting the flagship Dota 2 majors and The International events. As for 2020, she has been the host of 11 events in total. Sheever’s battle with cancer and her comeback into the Dota 2 scene also attracted a lot of support and love from the community.
