ViCi Gaming and PSG.LGD Underline Their Credentials at the China Dota 2 Pro Cup S1

Two powerhouses of the Chinese Dota 2 scene, ViCi Gaming and PSG.LGD have established their spots in the upper bracket final of the China Dota 2 Pro Cup Season 1. Both teams are set to face each other in a very hyped match on October 2. This is the first professional showing of both the teams after they revamped their rosters.

ViCi Gaming’s Run in the Playoffs 

Though ViCi Gaming was placed at 2nd position in the group stage, their gameplay had been wobbly and looked as if the team needed more match practice to perform to its potential. 

They played their Upper Bracket R1 match against Phoenix Gaming in a revenge match from the group stages where they lost the series 1-2. ViCi Gaming showed what they are capable of and took the series comprehensively 2-0. Their next matchup was against LBZS who, surprisingly, had won all their series in the group stages despite coming in as the underdogs from the open qualifiers. But ViCi Gaming was flawless in its planning and execution which provided LBZS with no chance to win the game. They beat them 2-0 and moved to the upper bracket final.

 One thing that is really interesting is the Io pick by ViCi Gaming in 3 out of its 4 games in the playoffs. They did not even pick Wisp once in their 10 matches in the group stages. This signifies that ViCi Gaming might have reserved some strats exclusively for the playoffs. 

PSG.LGD’s Run in the playoffs 

PSG.LGD looked really solid in the group stages, losing just the one series to LBZS. They had drafted some bizarre lineups with a Faceless Void, Monkey King at position 4 in two games and a Troll Warlord offlane, Rubick Mid and Anti-Mage carry in another game.

PSG.LGD played against EHOME in the Upper Bracket R1. Though both teams have a star-studded line-up, EHOME looked relatively rustier in the group stages. The performance was no distinct from the group stages for EHOME as they got thrashed by PSG.LGD, completing the series 2-0 in less than 60 minutes. Next matchup of PSG.LGD was against Group B toppers Royal Never Give Up. This was expected to be an exciting series considering the form and talent of both the teams. But PSG.LGD was bang on with its impeccable performance, taking the series 2-0 and booking a spot in the upper bracket final.

PSG.LGD have looked really versatile in their gameplay as their players have played a number of different heroes. As a matter of fact, Wang "Ame" Chunyu has played 11 different carry heroes in 13 matches until now.

The Upper Bracket Final is certainly going to be a hard-fought contest between PSG.LGD and EHOME. Both the teams have certain strategies and some undisclosed tactics up their sleeves and will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

The action in the tournament will resume on October 1 in the Lower Bracket R1 where Royal Never Give Up faces off against Phoenix Gaming while LBZS competes against EHOME. This little break will help teams prepare mentally for the LAN phase of the tournament which begins on October 1 as well. This is the first offline event in competitive Dota 2 since the pandemic halted the DPC 2020-21 indefinitely.
