Valve Gives An Update on The Status of TI10 and the DPC

For Dota 2 fans, August has always meant that it was time for a celebration of the game. The International Dota 2 championships., arguably the biggest esports events in the world usually takes place during this timeframe. Unfortunately, this year's TI10 was delayed by Valve due to the ongoing lockdowns across the world. After months of silence, the developer has finally given Dota 2 fans an update on the status of the tournament.

Valve’s Update on The International 10 (TI10)

Valve stated that they couldn’t commit to new dates for TI10 and the regional leagues because of the unpredictability of the ongoing pandemic.

If things went as planned, we would have seen a new champion being crowned at TI10 earlier last week, with the Grand Finals of TI10 coming to a close on Sunday, August 23. Unfortunately, Valve postponed the tournament earlier in April 2020.

According to the Regional DPC online leagues unveiled by Valve earlier this year, the first Regional League season would have kicked off in October 2020 with the Major taking place shortly after in December 2020. However, it looks like this will no longer be the case.

Valve Invites Fans to Relive The International

Perhaps to fill this Void of no TI taking place during this time of the year, Valve has started a series on its social media where Dota 2 fans can “remember some of its best moments together,” at the International Dota 2 championships.

The video primarily features Valve’s founder Gabe Newell’s speeches at multiple TIs and showcases the growth of the tournament from a small gathering of people at TI1 to selling out massive arenas at later TIs.

At the time of writing, the in-game Battle Pass for TI10 has raised over $34,253,325 USD and will likely surpass the record prize pool of The International 9, and making esports history once again.
