Week 2 of the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League has finally come to a close. Fnatic and (surprisingly) NEW Esports are leading the line in the group stages of the tournament. BOOM Esports and TNC Predator are right behind, nipping on the heels of the leaders. Geek Fam and Adroit are struggling at the moment, languishing in 8th and 9th place respectively.

Here’s a brief a look at the biggest storylines of Week 2 of the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League.

Adroit And Geek Fam’s Struggles

Geek Fam

Kuku and Co.’s struggles are quite the surprise, especially considering Geek Fam’s recent victory at BTS Pro Series Season 2: Southeast Asia. The Filipino favourites have had quite the poor run in the Group Stages of the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League. Their only victory so far in this tournament has come courtesy of a forfeit by Execration. They tied 1-1 against Neon Esports and lost 0-2 against BOOM Esports which has pushed them very close to the bottom of the table.

However, it should be noted that Geek Fam has played the least number of matches in this tournament and that they still have plenty of chances to recover. They’ve also had a relatively tough schedule so far. Geek Fam has a relatively easier schedule next week, they will be looking to get some wins under the belt.

Team Adroit

So far it looks like Team Adroit’s recent roster shuffle hasn’t worked out for them. The only team below Adroit is Execration who has forfeited the majority of their matches. That is not a spot that Adroit wants to be in considering some of the names in the roster. The team has 0-4-1 record and is yet to win a single game in the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League. They need to recover quickly or risk getting eliminated from the tournament without even competing in the playoffs.

NEW Esports - The Dark Horse of The ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League?

NEW Esports featuring the likes of ddz, LaNcE and YamateH has been one of the biggest surprise stories in this tournament. NEW Esports backed up their solid opening performance in Week 1 with a strong showing against Neon Esports to claim the 2nd spot in the points table of the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League.

Week 3 sees them go up against Fnatic and Reality Rift, taking 3-4 points from their fixtures in this week will likely guarantee a place in the upper bracket playoffs for NEW Esports.

Fnatic Is Back In Form

The SEA giants look like they’ve regained their form and have captured first place in the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League, following recent victories over T1, Adroit and Reality Rift in Week 2 of the tournament. They’ve only dropped a single game (against BOOM Esports) this tournament and look set to likely top the group stages once again.

Fnatic’s only match in Week 3 will be up against NEW Esports. A win in that match will almost guarantee the team a top place finish in the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League.

Here’s how the group stage tables of the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League looks at the moment.

ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League Week 2 Recap

Week 3 looks like it’ll be the most crucial week in this tournament where we’ll find out which teams will be competing for the upper bracket playoff spot and which ones will be competing to survive elimination.

All in all, the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League looks like it will be turning up the intensity to maximum next week.
