  • KennyS has been benched from G2's roster after 4 years in the active lineup, due to the team's recent underwhelming results.
  • Taking his place will be JaCkz who returns after a 3 month stint on G2's bench.
  • With their primary AWPer leaving, NiKo will be transitioning to a hybrid Rifler/AWP role to accomodate JaCkz in the team.

Kenny "kennyS" Schrub has been officially benched from the G2 Esports CS:GO active lineup. Audric "JaCkz" Jug, who had been on G2’s bench for three months, will be taking his spot, while kennyS will be allowed to explore his options with different organizations. To fill the AWP role on the team, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač will be transitioning to a hybrid AWP/Rifler role, leaving G2 without a dedicated AWPer in their active lineup. This move comes after the team’s lackluster results and drops in performance after they acquired NiKo from FaZe in October 2020 and benched JaCkz in December.

  G2 Part ways with kennyS

G2 have announced that their long time AWPer kennyS will no longer be playing with their CS:GO team in their future matches, at least for now. The French AWPer has been moved to G2’s bench following the team’s lack of promising results since late 2020.

G2 CS:GO’s head coach Damien "maLeK" Marce discussing the decision, had some things to say:

“Kenny is a pillar within G2 and a legend in the scene. We have shared incredible moments and memories together. We all feel that, though difficult, a new home for him will be a great opportunity to remain at the top. We are excited to have JACKZ return to the team, bringing his flair, creativity and a new balance to the team.”

The Veteran AWPer experienced numerous rough performances since late 2020, and could not fully find his form at the start of 2021. He even recorded his career-worst performance in a single map this year at the BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2021. Despite KennyS being partnered up with star rifler NiKo from FaZe, the G2 lineup failed to find success and have decided that it was time to part ways with the French Veteran.

KennyS was G2’s primary AWPer for 4 years before getting benched and had been a stalwart  player sticking with the team through multiple major roster changes. KennyS’s exit from the team means that some role adjustments will have to be made by the players.

The biggest adjustment due to this roster change will come from the role of G2’s star rifler NiKo. Niko will be transitioning to a hybrid Rifler/AWP role to accommodate JaCkz. Even if NiKo can successfully transition to his new role properly, it still leaves G2 without a dedicated AWPer on their team. This may affect their future performances in several of their maps.

The current G2 lineup now looks as follows

  • Audric “JaCkz” Jug
  • François “AmaNEk” Delaunay
  • Nemanja “nexa” Isaković
  • Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač
  • Nikola “NiKo” Kovač
  • Damien “maLeK” Marcel [coach]
  • Kenny “kennyS” Schrub [benched]
