  • KennyS registered the worst CS:GO performance of his career on a single map against EG at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2021.
  • He failed to step up for G2 Esports on the decider map Nuke, obtaining just 3 kills while dying 20 times across 21 rounds.
  • G2 lost the series ‘2-1’ which resulted in them getting eliminated from the tournament.

G2 Esports’ veteran AWPer Kenny "kennyS" Schrub registered his career-worst CS:GO performance on a single map against Evil Geniuses on 10 February, during the lower bracket finals of BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2021. KennyS ended the final map of the series which took place on Nuke with an HLTV rating of 0.17. He obtained just 3 kills in 21 rounds while going down 20 times and this has now become his career-worst CS:GO performance on a single map. The last time kennyS witnessed a drop in performance this sharp was at the finals of ESL One Cologne 2015 with Team EnVyUs.

In an earlier match, G2 had defeated EG by a ‘2-0’ scoreline but the revenge faceoff did not go down the same path for them. Instead of drafting the same maps, EG decided to punish G2 by picking Train. A map that the new G2 roster had won only once in their last four outings. The first map - Train, saw G2 go neck-and-neck against EG during the first half, but they failed to keep the momentum which resulted in a ‘16-12’ loss. KennyS was their second-best performing player on the map just behind Francois "AmaNEk" Delaunay.

G2 came back stronger on Vertigo after kennyS and Nemanja “nexa” Isakovic led their team to a ‘16-9’ victory. KennyS again had the second-best rating for G2 on the map. This win meant that G2 and EG had to duke it out on Nuke in order to qualify for BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2021.

The last map was a nightmare for G2 as they lost the first 8 rounds playing CT-side, ending the first half with an ‘11-4’ scoreline. G2 could not comeback in the second half as their top-performing players failed to step up on the map.

KennyS did not have any impact during the final map of the series, but he was not alone. G2 Esports’ star player Nikola “NiKo” Kovac also had a miserable outing, together they managed to take a total of 8 kills on Nuke. An underwhelming performance for the explosive duo.

The ‘2-1’ series loss resulted in G2 getting eliminated from BLAST Spring Groups. They now need to qualify for the main event through the upcoming BLAST Spring Showdown, where they will find HLTV’s current number one and number three teams as well, Astralis and Vitality.
