Karrigan Leaves Mousesports, Returns to FaZe Clan as Their IGL

Finn "karrigan" Andersen has officially parted ways with mousesports to join FaZe Clan as their new in-game leader. His contract with the German organization was terminated a bit early after a mutual agreement was struck between mousesports and FaZe Clan, so karrigan gets ample amount of time to prepare with his new team for the upcoming IEM Katowice 2021. The 30-year-old Danish-German professional will be returning to FaZe Clan after almost two years, since departing them in March 2019. He will be replacing the Swedish legend Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer Gustafsson who stepped down from the active roster after BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2021, while also taking on the responsibilities of an IGL over from Marcelo “coldzera” David.

Karrigan returns to FaZe Clan as their new IGL

The numerous reports and speculations have finally come true as karrigan has officially been announced as FaZe Clan’s fifth and final CS:GO player for the 2021 season. He has a rich history with both mousesports and FaZe Clan, as he has played with these organizations for quite some time.

Karrigan to date has played with mousesports on four separate occasions between 2010 and 2021, the first being during CS 1.6 from 2010-2012. This was followed by 3 more appearances for the side in CS:GO - 2013, 2014, 2019-2021.

Now, karrigan is returning to FaZe Clan as their new in-game leader after having played with them before from 2016-2018, for a period of roughly 26 months. Under his leadership, FaZe Clan has won multiple top-tier tournaments in the past including a runners-up finish at the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018. 

A few big tournament victories that FaZe have achieved with karrigan are as follows,

  • ESL One: New York 2017
  • ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2017
  • ECS Season 4 - Finals
  • IEM Sydney 2018

His return to FaZe Clan is huge, and many prominent players and personalities have taken note of them now being serious contenders as one of the best CS:GO teams in the world on paper.

Twistzz in an interview with HLTV had said that “My goal is definitely to have a good in-game leader, that’s like a priority," while coldzera had personally requested the FaZe management to recruit karrigan. They will be quite happy with the management providing them with what they had requested, now it is up to them to show how good this team really is.

The revamped FaZe Clan lineup will be seen in action at the upcoming IEM Katowice 2021 where they are one of the directly qualified teams. Their first match in the ‘Group-B’ opener is scheduled to take place this Thursday on 18 February.
