The four invited teams for the playoffs stage of the tournament are some of the best that Southeast Asia has to offer. Beyond Esports, Bren Esports, Paper Rex, and ZIGMA are all set for the main competition, having accepted their respective invites.

Joining these four teams will be nomoney4haircut, ORG LESS, Team LZ, and HUATZAI, who are making their way into the playoffs through the SEA Open Qualifier, which came to an end last week on 24th December.

Actually the open qualifiers are not concluded yet as the semifinals are scheduled to take place on 7th Jan, but as the top-four teams have technically already qualified for the playoffs further placement by the teams does not affect the main event.

Overall the teams will be competing for a total prize pool of $1,500 USD split between the top two teams, the winners will be walking away with $1,000 USD while the runners up win the remaining $500 USD. The rest will be starting off 2021 having learned something valuable with a desire to come back and compete once again in the next season of the tournament, which will hopefully take place on LAN.

The eight teams will go up against each other in a best-of-one double elimination bracket which will conclude with a best-of-three grand final, scheduled to take place on 10th December which is the final day of the main event.

The direct invites might be some of the top CS:GO teams from the Southeast Asia region, securing a spot in the main event based on the reputation that they have built over the years. But this in no way means that they will be taking the journey ahead any less lightly as they faceoff against some determined teams who have fought through the open qualifiers which featured a total of 80 teams.

  • ORG LESS
  • Team LZ
  • HUATZAI

Among the teams coming through the open qualifiers, the most capable and strongest team seems to be the Singaporean esports organization HUATZAI which consists of multiple experienced CS:GO players like Nevin “splashske” Aw, Leslie “Bobosaur” Soen, and more.

It will be interesting to see how the SEA regional main event proceeds and if any of the teams manages to reach the grand final, similar to what we witnessed during the Oceania playoffs.
