It was a fantastic tournament overall which observed a dream run from Bizarre Gaming who was one of the teams that made their way to the Grand Final through the open qualifiers. Top Five Plays From Oceania Playoffs Stage

The USP-S Solo Hold

This was probably the sickest pistol round of the tournament where Jeremy “motion” Lloyd from Control Esports single-handedly defended the ‘A-Site’ on Overpass. Armed with just a USP-S, motion played the round brilliantly achieving a clutch ace as he held on to dear life stuck between ‘Toilet’ and ‘Sign Post’.

Flawless Post-Plant Execution

VERTEX Esports Club playing their first match against Animal Squad on Dust 2, had Christian “ADDICT” Pendleton facing a 1v3 post-plant situation and boy did he make it look easy on the back of some crisp, precise gunplay. With already a kill in his pocket, ADDICT correctly predicted that a player would be sneaking up on him from ‘A Short’. Taking care of him he turned towards the site twice, both the time gunning down a player to win the round for his side.

A Brilliant Attempt

Nuke between VERTEX and Bizarre in the grand final was a blood bath but it gave us some of the best plays of the tournament. Topping them all was this sneaky play made by Toby “BRACE” Barnes from VERTEX which almost won them the round.

If BRACE would have won that round there was a big chance that the outcome on the map would have been in VERTEX ESC’s favour and there would not have been a tie-breaker at all.

Ace That Resulted In A Loss

Having equalized the score ‘1-1’ in the grand finals against VERTEX ESC, Bizarre Gaming was just one map away from completing a dream lower bracket run. But things started to look ugly after VERTEX started to race ahead on the deciding map Overpass. However, this did not faze Benson “Liki” Niuila who despite being the lone man standing for his side took down the entire VERTEX roster. He still lost the round because the round clock had run down before he could secure the last kill.

Clutch Multi Kill To Prevent Elimination

VERTEX was cruising through the upper bracket until they bumped into R!OT Gaming on Overpass. They were sweating hard on the map and this multi-kill by Benny “tensai” Phan was their saving grace. Although it was not the last round of the map it was certainly a very crucial round for the side and tensai single-handedly ensured that VERTEX won it.

These were some of the best plays from ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Festival 2020: Oceania. With four more regional tournaments still left to be played out, the event is far from over with Southeast Asia next being the next region in line.
