Astralis officially announced earlier today that their three-month-old rifler Patrick "es3tag" Hansen will be transferring over to Cloud9 after the conclusion of DreamHack Open Fall 2020 which is acting as the European Fall Major qualifier.
In their statement, Astralis had stated that both the organizations had agreed not to discuss the financial details pertaining to the agreement. So keeping that in mind Henry "HenryG" Greer who is the General Manager of Cloud9’s CS:GO team kept the buyout amount hidden as he disclosed the details of the contract signed by es3tag.
Cloud9 Signs Es3tag For $2.1 Million
According to the contract details revealed by HenryG, es3tag who will be playing the role of an entry fragger has been signed for a duration of three years in a deal worth $2.1 million which accounts for both the buyout amount and the player’s salary.
Comparing this to the contracts of the other four players it is clear that es3tag is the most expensive player on the ‘Colossus’, assembled collectively by both HenryG and Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunovic. The players in descending order of their signing amounts are as follows,
- Patrick “es3tag” Hansen - $2,100,000
- Alex "ALEX" McMeekin - $1,650,000
- Ozgur "woxic" Eker - $1,365,000
- Ricky "floppy" Kemery - $432,000
- William "mezii" Merriman - $$426,000
With es3tag joining the Cloud9 roster on 25th October Cloud9 has successfully assembled it’s new active CS:GO roster with the slot for the sixth player still vacant. HenryG had previously stated that they would be playing with a six-man roster to avoid player burnout and fatigue while also helping them tactically.
The lineup’s complete focus will be on the upcoming Flashpoint Season 2 which is scheduled to start from 9th November. As a founding member of the league Cloud9 has been directly invited for the main event, with a well-balanced roster that has multiple big players, some experienced players, and a few underrated players as well, they would certainly be a team to lookout who are aiming for nothing short of winning the tournament.
