Veteran CIS Counter-Strike players Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, Mikhail "Dosia" Stolyarov, and Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev had teamed up to compete in the second open qualifiers of IEM New York Online: CIS 2020. Unfortunately, the trio who played under the banner of ‘OldG’ along with two other players Alexander “lamp” Noviy and Zygimantas "nukkye" Chmieliauskas failed to make it past the third round of the qualifiers.
GuardiaN, Dosia, AdreN Face Second Match Defeat
Everyone was hyped to see the trio of the three senior CIS players make their return to competitive Counter-Strike, coming together after being without an organization or on a team’s bench for quite some time now.
But despite their experience and all the excitement, ‘OldG’ failed to make it past the third round of the open qualifiers. Crashing out of the tournament after losing to Artur “DarkS1DE” Kravchenko’s mix team ‘Que Que’. It was quite disheartening to see them walk out of the open qualifiers in this fashion as many expected them to at least reach the semifinals.
After getting a walkover in the first round similar to other teams ‘OldG’ faced off against a team called MegaCreeps, it is unclear by what score did they defeat them as the data is currently unavailable. This was followed by a miserable ‘16-11’ loss on Mirage to ‘Que Que’ who were nothing more than an average team, as they went on to themselves get eliminated in the next round.
The problem here could be the fact that members of ‘OldG’ might not have practiced much together otherwise, it should not at all have been an issue for them to win the match. From the scoreboard of their elimination match, it is pretty evident that both nukkye and GuardiaN were actually playing really well with 26 and 24 kills to their name respectively.
It was the other three players that dragged the team down, especially Dosia and AdreN who were obviously not feeling themselves in the match with an ADR (Average Damage per Round) of below 80 which was enough to pull the whole team down. Maybe if the team had practiced together for even a few weeks before the event they would have surely made it to the Closed Qualifier at the very least.

GuradiaN had been out of action since January this year, sitting on the bench mostly streaming FPL through his Twitch channel whereas both Dosia and AdreN despite being a part of different teams had not been performing well.
