Three Counter-Strike legends of the CIS region are coming together under the banner of ‘OldG’ to participate in the second open qualifier of IEM New York Online. Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, Mikhail "Dosia" Stolyarov, Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev, along with two other players will be trying to make their way through the open qualifiers of the third and final Fall RMR (Regional Major Ranking) tournament of the region.

Three of the most senior Counter-Strike players from the CIS region are attempting to make it to the main event of IEM New York through the second open qualifier along with two other players Alexander “lamp” Noviy and Zygimantas "nukkye" Chmieliauskas.

The five of them will be seen in action today playing under the name of ‘OldG’, the schedule of the tournament is not available yet but it will not be easy for the temporary lineup as they will have to fight against some other tier-two teams, who are also trying to make it to the closed qualifier of the tournament.

Even if they somehow manage to make it through the open qualifiers, it would be nothing less than a miracle if they can replicate the same in the closed qualifiers which already consist of strong teams like Syman Gaming, forZe, CR4ZY, HellRaisers, and more.

GuardiaN

Since joining Na’Vi in September last year the Slovak AWPer has faced heavy criticism from the Counter-Strike community for bogging the team down with his subpar gameplay. Another big factor which triggered hate against him was the fact that his presence in Na’Vi meant that Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev was not the main AWPer any longer.

Though s1mple was happy being a rifler and was equally dominating with it, the problem was with GuardiaN not doing justice with the bolt-action sniper. Na’Vi was stuck in a slump for a long time and finally, they took a call to bench the 29-year-old in late January earlier this year.

Dosia

Dosia after more than a 3 year stay with Gambit Esports has had a turbulent last few months, playing for a Chinese team called OneThree.TSG and then for a local team called Mustang Crew which he left just last month.

AdreN

AdreN after his stay with Gambit Esports went on to stand-in for FaZe Clan, finally settling with AVANGAR for a short six-month stay. He was then picked up by Virtus.pro but no great results saw him being removed from the lineup.

The three players free players are now trying to see if they can maybe come together and do some damage to prove their worth. They might be really good players but personally I think their chances to do anything significant looks grim. Let’s see how ‘OldG’ performs in the open qualifiers!
