The coronavirus scare might have rocked IEM Katowice hard but it is still a special moment for Kenny “kennyS” Schrub, who for the first time in his career will be playing at the Spodek Arena. The talented marksman who seems to have reformed into his former self spoke about how he had to fight through depression, with G2 Esports helping him at every point to overcome the situation, in an interview with Dexerto.
“It was hard, really hard, but with the team I have and the chemistry we share, it becomes much easier for me to perform. They (G2 Esports) put me in a really good situation, all the players respect me a lot and also give me a lot of credit for what I do or what I say.”
He goes on to say that when the entire team is feeling confident then every player individually also feels confident but despite that, each player must “do his own thing as well, and it is much easier to do that when you have a team just like ours.”
G2 Esports has had a phenomenal run at IEM Katowice 2020 so far, defeating teams like 100Thieves, mousesports, and Team Liquid to make their way into the playoffs.
It was surely disheartening to hear that the teams will be performing at the venue without an audience, but kennyS has no intention of giving in yet as his team awaits their opposition after booking themselves a slot in the semifinals. Let’s see if they go up against Fnatic or 100Thieves.
