The grand finals match in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9 was featured in the Esports Awards’ biggest mobile esports moments for June 2022. The tournament saw RSG PH dominating against Omega Esports with a score of 4-1. It was a big moment for the crowned champion as it silenced its haters who called the team the “Chop Sue” or a team of outcast players.
The Esports Awards honored the best outplays and high-octane moments in mobile esports history with a Twitter post featuring five of the best mobile moments for the month of June.
The video featured leading esports titles such as Garena Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB).
Holding the top spot was the MPL PH Season 9 finals match between two of the biggest names in the Philippines MLBB esports scene. The stakes were high during the grand final match as RSG PH was looking to prove its doubters wrong while Omega Esports was looking to defend its MSC 2021 title.
The grand finals match also paved the way for pro players like Nathanael "Nathzz" Estrologo, Arvie "Aqua" Antonio, and Dylan “Light” Catipon to prove they can keep up with the big leagues instead of simply being called outcasts by the MLBB community.
By taking down the top-tier teams in the MPL PH Season 9, RSG PH proved it is worthy of the title the “Kingslayers.” After conquering the Philippines region, the team went on to dominate the MSC 2022 and defeated the “King of Kings” RRQ Hoshi with an impressive clean sweep victory.
It will be interesting to see if the renowned Kingslayers can keep its momentum going and make their way to the prestigious M4 World Championship.
