Riot Games is now preparing for the opening of the Wild Rift Southeast Asia (SEA) Championship 2021. With the impending conclusion of the Wild Rift SEA Icon Series 2021: Fall Season, the Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021will follow up and is scheduled to kick off from mid-September to early October. In partnership with ESL Asia, the Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021 will feature 21 of the best teams from the Wild Rift SEA Icon Series 2021: Fall Season. These teams come from eight regions - Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, competing for the lion’s share of the $200,000 USD prize pool.
Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021 to be held with Oceania qualifiers
Aside from the much-awaited grand finale of the Wild Rift SEA Icon Series 2021: Fall Season, the tournament will also hold Oceanic Qualifiers. Wild Rift teams from Australia and New Zealand will have the opportunity to participate in an official Riot Games Wild Rift esports tournament and showcase their skills in the upcoming Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021.
The Wild Rift SEA Icon Series 2021: Fall Season is currently ongoing for each of the eight regions. The top teams from the participating regions will be granted a slot in the Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021 where they will compete for the title of SEA Champions and the lion’s share of the $200,000 USD prize pool.
The upcoming event will have three stages;
Stage 1 Play-ins: 14th - 19th Sept 2021
Stage 2 Group Stage: 23rd - 26th Sept 2021
Stage 3 Main Event: 30th Sept - 3rd Oct 2021
Riot Games is yet to reveal more details about the upcoming Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021. However, it stated that it will be revealing more information regarding teams and event details at a later date.
Last season, EVOS Esports Thailand (TH) secured its first championship title in the Wild Rift SEA Icon Series 2021: Summer Super Cup. This season, it would be interesting if the team will be able to make it to the Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021 and defend their championship titles against the best teams from each region.
