A tournament titled Wild Rift Rivals 2021 has been announced featuring Wild Rift teams of the top organizations from the LCK and LPL.
A few retired LoL PC esports veterans will also make an appearance in the tournament.
The tournament boasts a prize pool of $90,000 USD with each team of the winning region going home with $20,000 USD while each team from the losing region will receive $10,000.

An invitational tournament titled League of Legends (LoL): Wild Rift Rivals 2021 has been announced featuring Wild Rift teams of the top organizations from the LoL Champions Korea (LCK) and LoL Professional League (LPL), two of the biggest esports leagues for LoL PC. The tournament will kick off on 11th August and will last until 14th August 2021. Three teams from each region will compete against the opposing region to prove which region is the strongest. The Wild Rift Rivals 2021 boasts a prize pool of $90,000 USD with each team of the winning region going home with $20,000 USD while each team from the losing region will receive $10,000.

Wild Rift Rivals 2021 revealed featuring teams from LCK and LPL

A Wild Rift showmatch between the best teams from two of the biggest LoL esports league, LCK, and LPL, has been announced. A few retired LoL PC esports pros will also make an appearance in the invitational event.

There will be three regions for each region and will compete for the lion’s share of the $90,000 USD prize pool. The tournament will be a battle between two regions and the region that wins two matches will receive $60,000 USD which will be equally split between the three teams. The losing region will head home with $30,000 USD which will be equally distributed to its three teams.

According to Daily Esports, the invited retired LoL esports veterans are the following;

LCK (Korea)

  • Pi “PiPiXuan” Xiao-Xuan

  • Yu “Misaya” Jing-Xi

  • Yin “LoveLing” Le

  • Xiong “Moyu” Hui-Dong

LPL (China)

  • “Flame” Ho-jong

  • Shin “Helios” Dong-jin

  • Lee “GBM” Chang-seok

  • Kang “Cpt Jack” Hyung-woo

  • and Hong “MadLife” Min-gi

The invited veterans will compete in WIld Rift to show off who is the best region in a BO5 match on 11th August 2021.

The main event will feature the Wild Rift teams of the top organizations from the LCK and LPL. Here are the invited teams;

  • Sandbox Gaming

LPL

  • Edward Gaming

  • Bilibili Gaming

  • Oh My God

The Wild Rift Rivals 2021 main event will have three rounds of action-packed matches followed by the grand finale. In each round, three LCK and LPL teams will compete against each other. The region with two wins is considered the winner. The rounds will be played on 11th, 12th, and 13th August 2021, respectively.

The grand finals will be held on 14th August where the winner of the most rounds will have the choice to counter-pick a team in the finals. The two teams will compete in a best-of-five format.

The Wild Rift esports scene in China and Korea is starting to grow rapidly. Considering that China and Korea have the largest market when it comes to LoL PC esports, it will be interesting to see if Wild Rift will be able to build a sustainable mobile esports ecosystem in those regions in the near future.
