Wild Rift Patch 4.0 Preview: New Champions, Skins, Gameplay Changes, and More
The upcoming League of Legends 4.0 Preview content has been revealed by Riot Games. The next major update contains a ton of exciting new additions to the game such as two new champions, a plethora of skins to collect, the return of an iconic game mode, and gameplay changes that may shake up the meta. The Ranked Season 8 exclusive skin reward has also been revealed featuring the champion Nami. The next Wild Pass skin reward has also been confirmed to feature Graves as a supervillain. The Wild Rift Patch 4.0 update will also introduce a new year-themed skin line for fans to look forward to.
New Champions
Two new champions have been confirmed to arrive in the Wild Rift Patch 4.0 update.
Zoe, The Aspect of Twilight
Zoe is known as the Aspect of Twilight, the embodiment of mischief, imagination, and change. She is classified as a burst mage who can spam teleport abilities as well as massive burst damage. She can also make use of other players’ spells and enchantments, making her quite unpredictable.
Zeri
Zeri, the Spark of Zaun, is a marksman champion who gains bonus movement speed when she receives a shield. She is quite agile on the battlefield and can also dash on to walls for a quick escape.
Gameplay Updates
Inhibitor Respawns and Turret Burning Mechanic
Inhibitors will be added to the game similar to League of Legends PC. The Inhibitors will respawn for a short while after being destroyed, forcing the opposing team to end the game fast or risk opening an opportunity for their enemies to make a comeback.
Aside from the addition of Inhibitors, turrets will also start losing HP after a specific period of time. These changes may make the game feel fast-paced with the late game becoming more intense and risky for both teams.
New Item: Dawnshroud
A new tank item will be added to the game called Dawnshroud. The item damages and reveals nearby champions whenever the champion equipping it is immobilized or has immobilized an enemy champion.
Item Rework: Randuin’s Omen and Frozen Heart
One of the commonly used tank items, Randuins Omen, will get a new passive that allows the champion to heal based on the damage received.
The Frozen Heart will also force tank players to go aggressive as it will now only apply an attack speed debuff whenever they hit enemies or if enemies attack the champion who has the item.
ARURF Returns
The All Random Ultra Rapid Fire (ARURF) mode will be making a major comeback with a new mechanic for junglers called Execute Smite. This turns the Smite spell into an automated passive with unlimited use and executes monsters whenever their health reaches a certain threshold.
Quality of Life Changes
The Wild Rift Patch 4.0 preview showcased a few interesting features which should delight fans who enjoy achieving something in-game.
The ARAM (All Random All Mid) titles will have their own sub-tiers to make the climb much more rewarding. A role leaderboard will also be added in the game where players can show off how flexible or good they are at playing a specific role in the game. The leaderboard can be filtered by friends or global ranking.
Wild Rift Ranked Season 8 Skin Reward
The upcoming Glorious Crimson Nami is the exclusive reward for the Wild Rift Ranked Season 8. The skin will also feature an augment that can be acquired in the rank shop.
Wild Pass Season 11 Skin Reward
The upcoming exclusive skin for Wild Pass Season 11 is the Supervillain Graves which is set to be released sometime in January 2023.
