Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022 Venue Location Officially Confirmed

The pinnacle of League of Legends: Wild Rift competitions, the Icons Global Championship 2022 is confirmed to be held at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Center in Singapore. The tournament will kick off on 14th June with the Play-ins leading into the grand finale on 9th July. The Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022 will feature the top 24 teams from around the world competing for the lion’s share of the $2 million USD prize pool and the title of world champion. Eight of the participating teams will be heading straight to the group stage while the 16 other teams will be heading to the Play-ins.
Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022 venue changed due to pandemic travel restrictions
The Suntec Convention and Exhibition Center in Singapore is a familiar location to Wild Rift esports fans. This was the venue where last year’s Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021 took place with the Chinese team, Da Kun Gaming claiming the championship title.
“We are incredibly excited to announce that our very first Wild Rift Icons Global Championship will be coming to Singapore this summer,” said Leo Faria, Global Head of Wild Rift Esports. "Icons will be the climax of our Wild Rift Esports season, showcasing the best in mobile esports from around the world!”
The upcoming world series was originally set to be held in Madrid, Spain. However, due to the pandemic “complicating visa application timelines and re-entry dates for many regional teams, Riot Games made the decision to move the competition to Singapore.”
This change was made to ensure all teams will be able to travel and participate in the upcoming Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022.
Tournament Schedule
Riot Games has also revealed the official schedule for the first Wild Rift world championship tournament;
Play-Ins: 14th - 18th June
Groups: 21st - 25th June
Quarterfinals: 1st - 2nd July
Semifinals: 5th - 6th July
Finals: 9th July
